White Cube Gallery
Since its inception in 1993, White Cube has grown from a small exhibition space in Duke Street London to what is now known as one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries with multiple spaces in London as well as Hong Kong and Sao Paulo, hosting exhibitions by artists including Gilbert & George, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley to name but a few.
About Signs are proud to have worked with White Cube for a number of years, mainly supplying header and introduction graphics, but we have also been asked to cover entire exhibition spaces with digitally printed vinyl.
One instance was to cover the double height basement gallery at White Cube Mason’s Yard with imagery provided by the American artists Parker Cheeto. The walls were mounted with 450 square meters of satin sealed digitally printed vinyl which also covered stairwells and doorways creating a smooth uninterrupted back drop to the hanging and free standing art installations.
More recently we were commissioned to cover the walls at White Cube Bermondsey for the collaborative art duo Gilbert & George. About Signs have produced vinyl graphics and prints for the famous couple on occasion, but this time the task in hand was to put together 700 square meters of sealed prints to cover corridors and galleries together with computer cut vinyl.
With the combined skills of the About Signs team and some extremely careful planning during manufacture, the prints went up seamlessly and the installation was completed in just three days. Gilbert & George were ever present at the gallery while the install took place and personally expressed their thanks and satisfaction to the team.
