elBulli at Somerset House
Having worked with the award winning creative design team at Studio Emmi on a number of projects, we were delighted to hear from them when they were commissioned to set up a major exhibition on a global icon of gastronomy, Ferran Adrià and the restaurant he built to become the world’s best, elBulli.
The retrospective showcased the art of cuisine and charted the evolution of elBulli.
One of the many tasks handed to About Signs was to reproduce a montage of magazine covers and articles, all featuring Ferran Adrià and his world famous restaurant. These images entirely covered the glass entrance creating a real wow factor on arrival.
The exhibition also featured an in depth multimedia display and artistic photographs detailing Adrià’s creations. The photos were reproduced on acrylic by About Signs using the latest HP Latex printing technology and finished to the highest standard to preserve their true beauty.
There were various other requests; a number of walls covered with intricate computer cut vinyl graphics, bespoke exhibition labels and an eye catching image of Bulli; the iconic bulldog owned by Ferran Adrià after which he named his restaurant.
About Signs have worked at Somerset House for many years, so we’re very familiar with the layout and flow of this historical building. This resulted in a smooth and harmonious installation over two days, ending in an exhibition that captured the spirit of this world famous chef and made for a truly hunger-making experience.
